I met Lili the founder of Tchao Gunter<\/a>,\u00a0during the summer, at her home in Marseille.\u00a0 We were introduced to each other because I was supposed to film her, and two other women who had cancer, for GHD. This edit is not the one originally ordered, I wanted to stay much longer with her and present her to you in this light.<\/p>\n

So this week we are going to talk about these 3 women. \u00a0Because their gift of life is simply exceptional, and\u2026 their message is addressed to not only those who are fighting the illness, but also way beyond that.\u00a0 Their message is universal and it\u2019s really a huge honor for me to be able to share with you what I have learned from them.<\/p>\n

So Lili is a sun, an immense sun and at times without showing her, I was shaking behind my camera because step by step I was realizing what she went thru, I was realizing the \u201cenormity\u201d of her answer while facing cancer\u2026 happiness!<\/p>\n

Lili is my 3rd OUT OF THE BOX portrait. Here is what I’ve learnt form her. please tell me about you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1. No matter what happens you can answer with joy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes it\u2019s my first apprenticeship. We’ve talked about Joy, with Nicola GO\u2019s book<\/a>, joy as a resistance tool.\u00a0 And this joy, you can use it to oppose any situation.\u00a0 We were wondering with Mem<\/a>,\u00a0what was our freedom good for sometimes, well here\u2019s a possible answer.\u00a0 And Lili made me vibrate all over because her proposal to the world is absolutely huge.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2. No matter what happens your body is beautiful<\/strong><\/p>\n

That threw me down this \u201cI find it beautiful.\u201d \u00a0A mutilated or worn out body as she says, in pain, holding-in Gunter, is a body, which, despite it all is life.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3.\u00a0No matter what happens remember Lili<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the Louvre, there\u2019s this Rembrandt painting,\u00a0Bethsab\u00e9e at her bath<\/a>.\u00a0 Large callous hands, wrinkled skin, the glance of the woman in the painting showcases her more than modest status\u2026 because after his wife\u2019s death, the painter took his own maid as a model and for a wife.\u00a0 The women is not pretty as we are told, she\u2019s not as we wished she would be.\u00a0 Nonetheless the painting is a masterpiece.\u00a0 At the art D\u00e9co, my color teacher would tell us that story and would say when we weren\u2019t inspired by that which is real, the life offered to us\u2026 \u201cRemember Bethsab\u00e9e.\u201d\u00a0 And her flawed life, with her cancer, Lili created some sort of work of art that transcends it all.\u00a0 Happiness doesn\u2019t depend on life but what you do with it.<\/strong>\u00a0 Sometimes when I am outside or in the subway, or sitting somewhere and I think about Lili, and I cry.\u00a0 All alone like a grown-up.\u00a0 Because she is so beautiful, that it makes you cry I think.<\/p>\n

I hoped you’ve enjoyed meeting Lili. Well, I have no doubt about it. Wednesday and Friday, we will then find Charlotte and Marine, whom taught me other things as well.<\/p>\n
